Dave Answers Your Q's

Answering Your Q's Q:  Dave - How long have you been working in the music industry? A: I have been working as a professional drummer since the mid 80’s playing both drum kit and percussion in "top 40" and "classic rock" cover bands, a Grateful Dead tribute band, and a few original bands. My world really opened up when I got involved in hand drums and added multi-percussion to my list of skills.   Over the years I have enjoyed playing in many different genres from the blues, salsa, R&B, reggae to country and original projects too.  On the stage, I have had the pleasure of playing alongside some of the best musicians around! Working with recording studios as a freelance percussionist balanced out the times when the bands were not getting bookings. When we had relocated to a smaller town that had fewer gig opportunities, the bands I played in were more challenging to maintain and it meant there was more travel on my part to get to the out-of-town gigs. My teac...

Ronnie tells about the early band experiences and then delves right into his  experiences working with world-famous bands - Rainbow , Black Sabbath and his own band Dio. He speaks about the incredible, life-long drive to write amazing songs, to sing with his best voice, to give his fans memorable experiences... mentoring young musicians. "To be in one world-fam...

Galen's journey in the arts

  * Today's article was written by :  Galen Garwood, who's art involves painting, filmmaking, writing and photography. He currently lives in Northern Thailand. He invites you to share his thoughts on all aspects of the creative spirit and the human condition, our relationship to one another, to other creatures and to this planet we call home. You can visit him at  http://www.galengarwood.com  and his blog site at  http://www.galengarwood.wordpress.com . Back in the early fifties, at the age of nine, I decided that, unquestionably, I'd become an artist, even though I didn't exactly know what that meant and the only painter I knew was my sweet grandmother. I clumsily professed my certainty to my mother one late afternoon. She smiled and nodded, and carried on with whatever she was doing. I had no idea that decision would reverberate with such polarity between anguish and elation throughout my life. But I've never regretted it. Not once in these sixty-four years. A...
