Inner Dynamic Control * Written by Dave Brummet: www.BrummetMedia.ca One of the common questions my drum-set students ask of me is: “What can I do to be a better drummer?” This is a big question to answer for sure because there are so many facets of being a “better” drummer.  The most important tool for becoming a better drummer is to hone your dynamics. Of course we all need to be able to play quiet or loud depending on what the song - or part of the song is requiring. As drummers we need to be aware of the different dynamics of each venue we play at (whether the room is loud and boomy, or tight and hushed). Drummers need to be aware of what I call “inner dynamics” that will be required for each of these different rooms.  For instance one of the venues my band Tantrum plays at regularly has a large, long, high ceiling with a good-sized dance floor.  Awesome Hang Drum Performance Check out this fun performance by Hang Percussive at Goa Gardens. Impressive playing, calm but entrancing stage presence... music to disappear in. Check out the back lighting from below, looks to me like LED lighting illuminating the base, stems and trunks of garden plants and trees behind the stage.      Answering Your Q's Q: Hi Dave...What are your current activities within the music industry?  A: I play in a working classic rock cover band. My home-based music studio and workshop allows me to teach drum kit and percussion lessons, and build and repair hand drums and conga accessories.  I also have instigated what I call the Drum it Forward program where I travel to schools around the interior of BC and offer repairs for their drums and percussion at no charge.  I have a large collection of spare parts and pieces (some being donations from other drummers, studios or music stores) and with my fix-it skills I help the teachers that do not necessarily have the time or knowledge, to get their instruments back in working order.  ~~   Find us online via :  https://taplink.cc/brummet  ~~
