Music Therapy

Back in 2009, our talk radio was still going strong and we had the honour of interviewing many wonderful guests from around the world. Today we'd like to recommend the interview with
Craig Cortello and our topic of the day was: The Role of Music in Business.  While the archived interview is no longer available, here's an excerpt:

“Statistics reveal that 85% of the people out there who have never played an instrument would have loved the opportunity to play one
…There is a great resource out there called Support Music (www.supportmusic.com) – teaches people how to go about promoting music in the community.

…National Association of Music Merchants (www.namm.org) also has a foundation that supports musicians and teachers… And Little Kids Rock (www.littlekidsrock.org) is another foundation that provides resources, instruments and support to teachers.

…I would say that there are a number of books that show that playing music affects a child’s mind as far as learning ability. …(Music therapy is being) used for Autism, Down Syndrome and also Alzheimer’s.

…I remember playing in a band at New Year’s Eve, and we finished a song and a friend of the family walks up and says ‘I can’t believe this, This kid doesn’t say anything for 15 years and now he’s singing a song up on stage!’

…Music helped me in coming out of my shell and becoming more comfortable, in working with a team …leadership, salesmanship and branding, giving the fans what they want, creativity and innovation, individuality and passion.”
