In this post I demonstrate the method I use to safely cut down broken cymbals into smaller diameters to create little bell chimes about 5 inches in diameter.
I have also made smaller crashes and splashes out of some of the bigger cymbals but found they don’t always sound as desirable as the little ones, which have a cutting, discordant sound that is really quite cool.
