Which is: If you are playing so intensely that you can’t self analyze (and correct) your own playing, or truly listen and react to the other musicians around you, you need to back off. Once you have this concept in mind and learn to apply it you will be much more in control of everything you do. It is important have time to look around and smile instead of staring at your snare drum like a transfixed cobra.
