Musical Event raises funds  One of our students is playing Djembe on 4 numbers during this fundraising event!  SPIRITSONG women’s choir and BOUNDLESS vocal ensemble will join forces to present a choral theater work, “INSIDE OUT: reflections on life in an earth-suit “.  Performances are : Friday. Oct. 24 at 7 pm in Sandpoint, ID (USA) at Little Carnegie  (which is part of the S andpoint Music Conservatory ).   Sat. Oct. 25 at 7 pm in Bonners Ferry at Trinity Lutheran Church Sun. Oct. 26 at 3 pm at the Kootenay River Secondary School Auditorium in Creston, BC.  The musicians come from all three of those communities, and from Carson City, NV and Spokane, WA. Tickets are by donation at the door. These concerts are fundraisers for the Second Harvest Food Truck which delivers fresh, frozen, and canned food to hundreds of families each month, spring to fall, in Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint.     Drum It With Brummet's Hand Drum Circles  October 29th (Wednesday)  7 PM - 9  PM (Pacific) This  2-hour e vent is held monthly, and is for all skill levels and are a lot of fun for ages 15 -80. Bring your own drum, or percussive instrument, but  if you do not have a drum - let us know as we do have a limited supply that we are able to let participants use for events like this.   Location : downtown Creston (BC, Canada) Drum Circle  participants simply "play” at making music with a variety of drums and percussion instruments. This activity requires careful listening to the music at that moment, as it is being played by members in the room. Rather than being instructed, participants learn to "jam" with other drummers.  Dave Brummet  facilitates these events to ensure everyone is comfortable, playing at an enjoyable volume and having a great time.   Buy Local interviewed Dave in 2022, and in this discussion Dave was able to talk about the special voice that each drum has and how each drum indigates its origins:  “After 40 plus years of playing percussion & drums, I know what kind of voice every drum can have, every size every shape, every type of head and the kind of material the drum is made out of.  So I always wait a few days after I repair it or service it to ensure that drum has the very best sound that can be gotten out of it.  …there are a lot of different drums in Africa, when you go from country to country they will have different names for the same drums, or the same rhythm. They also have a big selection of online lessons of various styles for one to pick and choose from. I personally have been opened up to drummers and concepts that I would have never been aware of before and have learned so much from them. Very inspiring if you are in a rut of any kind with your drumming.  This video with Todd Sucherman is one of my recent favourites.   A professional drummer/percussionist and educator, Dave has collaborated on many songs that later led to him writing lyrics of his own.
